As mentioned in The Boss Magazine, plastic extrusion is a versatile high-volume manufacturing method used to create various shapes and products for commercial and domestic purposes. This process involves melting unprocessed plastic and molding it into a continuous shape to produce an array of items.
The process begins with feeding plastic material, such as powders, flakes, granules, or pellets, into the extruder’s barrel from a hopper. Mechanical energy generated by turning screws and heaters melts the material, which is then pressed into a die and given a specific shape that solidifies upon cooling.
