To ensure water tightness in below-ground structures like water sumps, water tanks, and manholes, it is essential to seal construction joints with suitable materials, such as waterbars or waterstops.

Waterbars, also known as waterstops, are flexible, impervious strips typically made from materials like galvanized steel, copper, rubber bituminous material, or plastic. These strips are embedded in the concrete at construction joint locations, serving as joining strips that prevent water leakage through the joints.
